I'm 37 years old and currently live in Bournemouth, a sea-side resort on the south coast of England. For the last thirteen years I was doing IT support for a living, the last five of which was networking support; looking after the global network for one of the world's largest banks. However, this job wasn't fulfilling and due to my interest in nature and scuba diving I decided to quit my job to go back to university to study a foundation degree in marine conservation and ecology at Bournemouth University/Kingston Maurward College, starting in September 2010.
I like most types of photography but especially portraiture, glamour and nature photography. In regards to nature (and landscape) photography there is an abundance of countryside around me (Dorset) that I can take advantage of and I enjoy going out with my camera to the river Stour, The New Forest or Hengistbury Head. I also enjoy trips to Cornwall where the scenery is breathtaking. With regards to glamour photography I have had the experience of working with four professional models in studios here in Bournemouth as well as Southampton and Leicester. All were fun to work with and I gained a lot from these experiences, not only in obtaining better shots but a better understanding in working with models and creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in which to work in. For portraiture, I gained a lot of experience from portrait shots from the glamour models I've worked with. The biggest eye-opening portrait experience I have had though has to be when I photographed my friend's two children (ages about 4 and 6) at a local studio in Poole. The old saying about 'the hardest thing to do is work with children or animals' is very true but nonetheless I obtained some shots that my friends were extremely happy with and said looked like they had been done by a professional. You can see examples of my shoots in the people gallery.
As I've said, I'm only an amateur but I thoroughly enjoy photography and hope you can gain some pleasure from the shots I'm displaying on this site.
Other interests of mine are SCUBA diving, sailing, sci-fi/fantasy genres, movies, heavy metal, rock, dance music, classical music, fine wine and fine food, badminton and squash and all areas of science, especially natural history and astronomy.
